Introduction to Canoe or Kayak

Spend a day learning the essentials of paddling. From how to select appropriate paddling gear for you and the type of paddling you do or want to do, to efficient stroke technique. We’ll get you started right!

Quickstart Your Canoe or Kayak

A half-day course that emphasizes safety, enjoyment, and learning the most important paddling skills.

1/2 day Quickstart is $55.00 per person with a minimum of two participants.

Essentials of River Canoe or Kayak

A two day introduction to moving water: this is not a whitewater course. This is a great introduction for those who wish to paddle on Ohio rivers and streams, many of which are rated up to and including Class I. May be added as a second day when available after “intro.”

Call for more information on the following courses.

Whitewater Canoe or Kayak

The Kayak Roll (1/2-1 day)

Introduction to Playboating (1-2 days)

Canoe Camping (one or more overnights)

Lake Hope Canoeing with Baby
Lake Hope Day Trip w/Babe
Lake Hope day trips are suitable for the whole family.  In the right weather, and with a properly fitted life-jacket, even the wee ones can enjoy a couple of hours touring the quiet waters of the lake, watching great blue herons fish, and admiring the handywork of the active beaver population.  A sunset tour is a great time to catch the beaver in action.  We give the beaver a respectfully wide berth, but they still let us know that we are trespassing in their territory with the occasional, suprisingly intimidating slap of their beefy tails on the water before they disappear beneath the surface.
